Tewksbury Boys Basketball League, or TBBL, is a youth basketball league that provides not only a highly competitive Travel Program for Grades 3 through 8 to prepare our boys for High School basketball, but also an In-town Program that provides an excellent basketball experience for boys from Kindergarten through 12th grade.

The League is governed by a Board of Directors, elected annually at a Spring Annual Meeting.  The League is dependent on the many coaches, assistant coaches, officials, and other volunteers to provide a quality basketball experience to all of its players.

The Travel Program is made up of 1-3 teams per grade level based on the number of skilled players that participate in annual tryouts in the spring each year.  Coaching and player placements are determined by a Travel Selection Committee made up of current and former Board members and Travel Coaches.

While the Travel Program is divided by grade, the In-town program is made up of several divisions as follows:

Clinic: The Clinic is a skills-focused developmental division where boys and girls in Kindergarten and 1st Grade are introduced to the fundamentals of basketball in a fun and low-pressure atmosphere. The Clinic is generally held Saturday mornings at hour-long time slots.

Cadet: The Cadet Division provides a transitional year for 2nd Grade boys to move from the skills-focused Clinic to the more game-focused Junior Division. Boys practice in a skills-focused setting once midweek with a short game on Saturday mornings.

Juniors: The Junior Division, for 3rd & 4th Grade boys is the first level where competitive play is introduced. Boys are placed on teams of approximately 10 players and they practice once midweek with a game on Saturdays and occasionally on Sundays.  Games are played with modified rules to maximize opportunities for success and are officiated by Junior Referees trained within our program.

Intermediates: The Intermediate Division, for 5th & 6th Grade boys is a more complete basketball experience. Boys are placed on teams of approximately 10 players and they practice once midweek with a game on Saturdays and occasionally on Sundays.  Games are officiated by one of our more experienced Junior Referees trained within our program and an IAABO-certified official.

Seniors: The Senior Division, for 7th & 8th Grade boys is the highest level of our In-town program where individual teams are coached by adult volunteers.  These games are fast-paced and highly competitive as the players demonstrate the full effect of their development through our program. Boys are placed on teams of approximately 10 players and they practice once midweek with a game on Saturdays and occasionally on Sundays.  Games are officiated by IAABO-Certified Referees.

High School Division: The High School Division, or "Sunday Hoops" is a more relaxed atmosphere focused on basketball players who do not participate on a High School Basketball team, but want to continue to play basketball.  The boys are divided into teams of 7-9 based on an initial assessment night, and then play IAABO-officiated games in a player-focused atmosphere. While the individual teams do not have an adult coach directing their play, there are adult volunteers present at all times to insure the safety of all players as well as enforcing equitable playing time. There are no practice times for this division, and games are played on Sunday evenings, with occasional Saturday games.
